The final result of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2026 was released on 2 November 2026 and published the same evening by the Press Information Bureau (PIB). A total of 243 candidates have qualified for admission to the Indian Military Academy (IMA), the Indian Naval Academy (INA) and the Air Force Academy (AFA).
The result is based on the written examination held by UPSC in April 2026 and the interviews for Intelligence and Personality Tests held by the Services Selection Board (SSB) of the Ministry of Defence. Earlier, after the written exam, UPSC had recommended 2,601 candidates for IMA, 770 for INA and 640 for AFA for the SSB interview. Some candidates appear in more than one final list, because they are common to the IMA, INA and AFA lists.

Eligibility: Why the Selection Is Still Provisional
- The medical examination results have not been taken into account while preparing these lists.
- Verification of date of birth and educational qualification is done by Army Headquarters, so the candidature of all selected candidates is provisional.
- Candidates who have not yet sent their certificates must send original certificates with attested photocopies of date of birth and educational qualification to the Army HQ, Naval HQ or Air HQ, as per their first choice.
- If your address changes, inform the Army, Naval or Air Headquarters directly.
- The age limits and qualifications are those in the CDS (I) 2026 notification; the press note does not change them.
Fee
There is no fee to check the CDS 1 final result. The merit list PDF is free on the UPSC website and on PIB.

- Visit the official website upsc.gov.in and open What’s New or Examination → Final Results.
- Click Combined Defence Services Examination (I), 2026 – Final Result. You can also use the PIB copy of the result PDF linked below.
- Open the PDF. It has separate lists for IMA, INA and AFA with serial number, roll number and name.
- Press Ctrl + F (or “Find in page” on a phone) and type your roll number or name.
- Check all three lists, because your name may appear in more than one.
- Download and save the PDF for future reference.
