The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have published the detailed Centralised Employment Notice (CEN) No. 08/2026 for Station Master posts in various zonal railways. The detailed CEN was published on 26 October 2026. On 27 October 2026, RRBs issued Corrigendum No. 1, which corrects the total number of vacancies to 1,265 (the CEN had said 1,215 by mistake).
Station Master is a Level-6 post in the 7th CPC pay matrix, with an initial pay of ₹35,400. Any graduate aged 20–33 years (as on 01.01.2027) can apply. The online application runs from 27 October to 25 November 2026 (11:59 PM) on rrbapply.gov.in. Eligibility – Educational Qualification
- Graduate degree from a recognised university, or its equivalent (Annexure-A).
- You must already have the qualification by the closing date (25.11.2026). Candidates awaiting final results are not eligible.
- Medical standard: A-2. The post is not suitable for PwBD candidates (VI/HI/LD/OD/MD marked “No” in Annexure-A).
Age Limit (as on 01.01.2027)
- Normal age: 20 to 33 years. Candidates must be born not later than 01.01.2007.
- Born not earlier than: UR & EWS 02.01.1994, OBC-NCL 02.01.1991, SC/ST 02.01.1989 (these include the community relaxation).
- Upper age relaxation: OBC-NCL 3 years, SC/ST 5 years. Ex-Servicemen 3/6/8 years (UR-EWS/OBC/SC-ST) after deducting service.
- Serving Railway Group C/erstwhile Group D staff with 3 years’ service: up to 40 (UR/EWS), 43 (OBC-NCL), 45 (SC/ST) years.
- Widowed/divorced/judicially separated women (not remarried): up to 35 / 38 / 40 years.
- No age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates applying against unreserved vacancies. Relaxations are not cumulative.

The fee is paid online only (internet banking, debit/credit card or UPI). EBC is not the same as OBC or EWS – see Para 10 of the CEN.
Selection Process and Exam Pattern
- Single-stage CBT – 100 questions, 120 minutes, 1/3 mark negative marking.
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) – 8 times the vacancies (RRB-wise) called; minimum T-score 42 in each test battery; no negative marking.
- Document Verification and Medical Examination – 1:1 of vacancies, based on combined merit (70% CBT + 30% CBAT).

Minimum qualifying marks in CBT: UR 40%, EWS 40%, OBC-NCL 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%. The CBAT is in English and Hindi only, and you must bring a vision certificate (Annexure VI/VIA) to it.
How to Apply for RRB Station Master 2026 – Step by Step
- Visit the official application portal rrbapply.gov.in (the link is also given on rrb.indianrailways.gov.in).
- Click Create an Account. If you already created an account for any RRB CEN of 2024, 2025 or 2026, log in with the same credentials.
- Authenticate your identity using Aadhaar or DigiLocker (recommended by the CEN).
- Open the CEN 08/2026 (Station Master) application and fill in your details. Choose only one RRB – applying to more than one RRB leads to rejection of all applications.
- Capture your live photo and upload your signature and the required documents as per Para 16.5–16.6.
- Pay the fee online by 27.11.2026, then submit the form and save a printout.
